About this tool
The Chat History Export tool preserves Teams chat history during tenant migrations by exporting conversations as HTML files to user OneDrive in the target tenant.
Uses dual-tenant OAuth with separate source (read-only) and target (write) apps for least privilege. Chats are formatted as readable HTML with timestamps, attachments, and conversation threading.
Essential for compliance and user continuity when migrating between tenants.

Limitations & out-of-scope
Chat History Export: Source and target tenants both require admin consent. Throughput is capped by Microsoft Graph throttling (~400 requests / 10 s per app per tenant) and by destination-tenant ingestion quotas. Items already present at the destination are detected via content hash and skipped; conflict-merge rules are documented in the migration runbook.
